They are unable to meet their needs, even the basic needs of survival! Everyone, as a member of humanity, shouldn't feel ashamed? Our luxury deprived their lives, our indifference violated our soul, and our barbarity destroyed human civilization!
What's the ideal society? It's a society no one worries about their living, a society no one is refused from education, a society everyone can pursue his/her own happiness! The ideal society is filled with love, joy and kindness. In that society, we can touch the other's hearts, we can share our dreams and most important, we can just be the true men!
Let's break the ethnic divide, bridge the gap between rich and poor, hand in hand, to build a Great wall, protecting us from evil; to construct a steady bridge, connecting reality to the ideal society! Let's pursue for that, that's the only way to the bright future! They are watching us! Thank you!

Good afternoon, Ladies and gentlemen,
My topic today is Never Lose the Vision of Reality. Talking about dreams and future, I would say, dreams should never be too far away from reality. Detaching from reality, lacking solid or practical actions, any future plan or dream project will be nothing short of daydreaming, or, at most well-intentioned thinking. Here I am reminded the year of 20xx, when 191 member states of the United Nations held a World Summit Conference, which made a declaration known as the Millennium Development Goals. The goals of 20xx, which every member state pledged to meet, were such as, elimination of hunger and poverty, drastic reduction in child mortality rates, reversing a spread of AIDS and other deadly diseases, etc. Now, six years later, almost half way to the final year of 20xx, do we see any signs of realizing these goalsToday, half the world- about three billion people, still live under two U.S. dollars a day; about 270 million children have no access to safe water, 11 million children die before they reach the age of five each year. Do we come to harness the spread of the AIDSThe answer is also “no”- and indeed AIDS is spreading faster and wider than ever before. What is even worse, with the wake of the Iraqi War, the nuclear crisis in Iran and unsettled situations in many places, the visions of us young people today are often limited- but the limited vision (that) we do have and care about every day

Future plans are certainly necessary, for they provide us with goals and guides. But what is most beautiful and important is an action on a day-to-day basis. In order to realize our dreams or make our future goals realized, we need to put our words into deeds and base our vision on reality. In other words, while human beings should be, first and foremost, idealists and thinkers, we should also be, and all the more, realists and practical doers.

We've all been taught that we should help people. It is the right thing to do and will make us popular with others. It may even win us favors in return. However, we must be realistic. We can't say yes to every request. If we did, we would fail or go crazy for sure. Sometimes we simply don't have the time to help. In this case, we must know how to say no politely.
When we need to say no, here is one method we can try. First, we should tell the truth. If we really can't do something, we should just say so. Second, we should remember to refuse requests politely. We must communicate clearly, but must also be sincere and sympathetic. A true friend will understand. Finally, we must not feel guilty about saying no. Sometimes refusing others is the right thing to do. It can save ourselves, and them, a lot of trouble. In short, we cannot please everyone all the time. Refusing favors is a part of life.

today, as people live a better life, they chase for more enjoyment. we can see from the news that when the holiday comes, there are so many people gather in the scenery site. people like to travel today, they can take a plane, take the bus or even take a bike. on my opinion, the best way to travel is by train. first, it is very cheap. compare with other ways, such as plane and bus, train is less expensive, people can save a lot of money. besides, taking the train is much safer. people don’t have to worry about crush, which is more happen in the plane or bus. second, we can enjoy the scenery in the train. though the train is very slow, we can have a good sight of the beautiful scenery, when we go to tibet, we can see different colors and different mountains during the trip. taking the train is the best way to travel.
i never had the courage to talk across a long, narrow room. i should be at the end of the room facing all the audience. if i attempt to talk across a room i find myself turning this way and that, and thus at alternate periods i have part of the audience behind me. you ought never to have any part of the audience behind you; you never can tell what they are going to do.

如馨是怎样学英语的
如馨正式学英语是在两年前，确切地说是从XX年3月。当时如馨同妈妈一起去英国看爸爸，这就意味着如馨不得不学英语。当时连26个字母都背不下来的她，开始时有些抵触情绪。她就读于一所很不错的小学，上四年级(year four)。那里的同学和老师对她都很热情和友好，这增强了她的自信心。妈妈给如馨指定了一套系统的学习计划。在第一个月里，如馨掌握了基本的课堂用语和生活用语，并且还掌握了200多个单词。这些单词是按内容进行归类，这样比较容易记。每天放学回家还要看一些动画片。一开始看不懂，她就会根据片中人物表情和手势去猜。
一个月过后，如馨加大了阅读量。在学校里老师要求她每周读一本简单的故事书，而如馨却要读10本有时甚至更多同等程度的故事书。大量的阅读既增加了她的词汇量同时也增强了她的学习英语的自信心。在短短的四个月的时间里，她读完了oxford reading tree 系列读物的小学三年级的全部书籍。由于如馨学习刻苦努力以及在语言方面所取得的进步，学校多次给她颁发证书，比如， “outstanding effort in english”, “working really hard on reading”, “being very quick at maths” 等等。在英国一年的学习中，如馨阅读了150本儿童读物并写了几十篇读书笔记。
回国以后，如馨每天坚持读英文小说和看电视英语节目， 如中央十套的《希望英语杂志》和中央九套的新闻节目。与此同时，爸爸每周都买来一些英文原版的优秀影片，全家人一起欣赏。这既锻炼了听力同时也巩固了英语语言基础。这次如馨在比赛中听力方面表现很优秀是与她平时经常听，经常看分不开的。

hi, everyone, my name is jia ruxin. i am from shijiazhuang and in grade 5. today my topic is “ my sweet home”。
there is an old saying “east and west, home is best.” so, we can see how important home is to everybody. i’ve got a sweet home because it is cozy. my family lives in a flat. the sitting room is the biggest and my room is the smallest, but it is a world of my own. the wall is white, the curtain is pretty, the bed is comfortable and the bookshelf is filled with different kinds of books. in the right hand corner is the zheng, a traditional chinese musical instrument, and on the table is the computer. when i feel tired, i can play computer games; and when i feel depressed, playing the zheng can cheer me up. this is my sweet home, where i can find peace and comfort.

俗话说：“东好西好不如家好。”从这句话我们可以体会到家对每一个人是多么的重要。我有一个甜美的家，因为我的家既舒适又安逸。我们住的是单元楼房。客厅是最大的一间。我的房间是最小的，但这里是我自己的天地：洁白的墙壁，精美的窗帘，温暖舒服的床和装满各种书籍的书架；在屋子的右手方向放着古筝，一种传统的中国乐器；在桌子上则有一台电脑。当我感到疲劳的时候，可以玩一会儿电脑；而弹奏古筝可以使我摆脱消沉。这就是我甜美的家，在这里我可以找到宁静和舒适。
我有一个甜美的家，因为它充满了爱。爸爸疼爱我。他既和蔼又有耐心。陪我一起看希望英语杂志的是我的爸爸，随时回答我提出的各种问题的也是我的。爸爸。我的妈妈也爱我。她不仅考虑周到而且不辞辛劳。每天当我放学回到家里，房间总是既干净又整齐。每当我在外玩耍而忘记吃晚饭时间时，也是我的母亲用她那温柔的声音叫我：“宝贝儿，晚饭已经好了，快回家吃饭吧！”

四、赛后感想
中央电视台第四届“希望之星”英语风采大赛结束了，但我的心情却久久不能平静。比赛中所有的参赛选手都一展才华，显示出很强的英语水平。虽然我获得了小学组的冠军，但是我还有很多不足之处需要弥补。
通过这次比赛我收获了很多。它丰富了我的人生经历。它使我结识了许多来自全国各地的小朋友。它给了我一次很好的学习机会。它让我大开了眼界，增长了见识。最重要的一点，它让我的自信心和心理素质得到了很大的提高。得到了冠军并不是我一人的功劳，它包含着许多人的汗水。我和爸爸妈妈付出了，为了这次比赛我们准备了很多。在中央电视台的工作的叔叔阿姨们也付出了许多，是他们在幕后筹备着一切，是他们一直鼓励着我们，他们才是真正的幕后英雄，他们才是最可爱的人！
