Learn How to Say No
We've all been taught that we should help people. It is the right thing to do and will make us popular with others. It may even win us favors in return. However, we must be realistic. We can't say yes to every request. If we did, we would fail or go crazy for sure. Sometimes we simply don't have the time to help. In this case, we must know how to say no politely.
When we need to say no, here is one method we can try. First, we should tell the truth. If we really can't do something, we should just say so. Second, we should remember to refuse requests politely. We must communicate clearly, but must also be sincere and sympathetic. A true friend will understand. Finally, we must not feel guilty about saying no. Sometimes refusing others is the right thing to do. It can save ourselves, and them, a lot of trouble. In short, we cannot please everyone all the time. Refusing favors is a part of life.

good evening ,ladies and gentlemen:
thank you very much for choosing to e in such a cold night。today my topic is about choice and process。a research shows that a man has to make 73 choices one day。with so many choices one day, people easily get so confused and afraid of making wrong choice that they hesitate and finally miss the true part of life。 in my opinion, the following part is of much more importance than the choice。 there is no absolute right or wrong choice but wonderful or boring life, which the process makes the difference。 life is a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get。
forrest gump made no decision by and for himself but he acplished great success with his strong will in the process。 the process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings ,the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles。 take myself as an example, i changed my major when i became a postgraduate。 after the choice, days have been harsh for me。i cannot understand the new lessons at all。
for they are closely related to mathmatics which i learned nothing about before。 however wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,i persisted。
i asked for help from every channel and reorgonized my life。 gradually i could understand some parts and even found maths interesting。moreover,
i learned to act instead of plaining。 in retrospect, the choice left no trace in my mind but the happiness and bitterness of the past four months bees an unforgetable experience in my life。 no matter what the choice is, enjoy the process。 in the process, your potential will be inspired and new discoveries, improvement and progress will e to you。
these are the most beautiful sceneries and only on the way can you see it。these make your life colorful。
there is no need and i donnot want to judge whether it right or wrong for me to be here, but i congratulate to myself for i gain and enjoy this fantastic experience。 so my dear friends, never worry about your choice and enjoy the process。 i am sure you will get something new and intersting tonight after you chose to e here。 thank you!
In a twinkling of an eye, winter is coming, and the weather is chilly.
In the morning, I have to wear several clothes and thick cotton padded clothes to keep cool! When I got down to the car in the morning, the leather seats were freezing. I asked my mother, why dont you buy a mat with fur? Mom said, Oh, next time!
Every night, the bed is so cold that I have to hold a hot water bag when I sleep.
Compared with summer, its really a cold day. However, I think winter is also good. In winter, we can have snowfights, make snowmen and throw snowballs. Ah, if there were a heavy snow at once, how nice it would be! Im looking forward to it.
Good afternoon, class.
Many students like getting online very much. they think on the internet they can get some information, play some educational games and these games help them learn a lot. they can also make friends online.
But there is also something bad getting online. It takes students too much time, so they do worse in their lessons. Spending too much time online is also bad for their health. I don't think they should spend too much time getting online. I think they should put their hearts into their studies.

Dear teachers and students,
Good afternoon!
I am __ from class one, grade two. I feel very happy to stand here today to give a speech. Speaking of happiness, for us children, it may be a piece of sweet candy, it may be a beautiful dress, or it may be a novel toy. And this kind of happy feeling is often short, is there a long - term happiness? I would say yes, yes! That is a child has that is higher than the mountains, deeper than the sea of maternal love. Mother is the sun in my home, with her in, there is warmth. When the first ray of sunshine in the morning into the window, I opened the hazy eyes, see is the mother busy figure, ear heard is the mother urged me to get up. I enjoy my mother's love, like a happy bird every day happy heart.
Thank you!
youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .
youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals.
years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .
whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courag
everytime i am asked what i want to do in the future. i think a minute and say being a doctor is my dream job.
doctor is an other kind of artist who does human art by fighting with diseases and making people feel good. i think it is a pleasure to try my best to bring happiness to others. it is a feeling of pride and i am fond of it. in modern life, a mass of people work day and night to seek wealth and as a result they ignore their health. it is known that strong body is a foundation of beatific life. i dreamed to be an excellent doctor who can help them have a right to enjoy life again. curing people is a doctor's holy responsibility.
i am chinese. i am proud of being a chinese with five thousand years of civilization behind. i've learned about the four great inventions made by our forefathers. i've learned about the great wall and the yangtze river. i've learned about zhang heng(张衡)and i've learned about zheng he(郑和) says the yellow river civilization has vanished(消失)?i know that my ancestors have made miracles(奇迹)on this fertile land and we're still making miracles. who can ignore the fact that we have established ourselves as a great state in the world, that we have devised our own nuclear weapons, that we have successfully sent our satellites into space, and that our gnp ranks no. 7 in the world? we have experienced the plunders (掠夺) by other nations, and we have experienced the war. yet, based on such ruins, there still stands our nation----china, unyielding and unconquerable!
i once came across an american tourist. she said, “china has a history of five thousand years, but the us only has a history of 200 years. five thousand years ago, china took the lead in the world, and now it is the us that is leading.”my heart was deeply touched by these words. it is true that we're still a developing nation, but it doesn't mean that we can despise (鄙视) ourselves. we have such a long-standing history, we have such abundant resources, we have such intelligent and diligent people, and we have enough to be proud of. we have reasons to say proudly: we are sure to take the lead in the world in the future again, for our problems are big, but our ambition (雄心) is even bigger, our challenges (挑战) are great, but our will is evengreater.

When George was thirty-five, he bought a small plane and learned to fly it. He soon became very good and made his plane do all kinds of tricks.
George had a friend. His name was Mark. One day George offered to take Mark up in his plane. Mark thought, "I've travelled in a big plane several times, but I've never been in a small one, so I'll go."
They went up, and George flew around for half an hour and did all kinds of tricks in the air.
When they came down again, Mark was very glad to be back safely, and he said to his friend in a shaking voice, "Well, George, thank you very much for those two trips in your plane."
George was very surprised and said, "Two trips?"
"Yes, my first and my last," answered Mark.
I like drawing. It does bring me happiness. As a kid, I was keen on those lines and curves drawn on paper made into animals and scenes. It really could show beauty to people and express my feelings. And then I took a course so that I could get close to it and see it well. But at that time, I just did it for fun. Years went by, I got into a long period of time filled with pressure in study. And I found it so good a way to relax. It did not any longer play an unimportant role in my living, but bacame my friend. Since that time, I have felt it like a nice person deep in my heart who can talk with me with true words and make me happy with life. This is my hobby, not just a hobby, but also a true friend.

Good morningeveningafternoon, ladies and gentlemen :
Today, my speech is about talents,in my opionion, talents are indispensable in nowadays society. as is known to all that the fight among countries is actually the fight among talents.
First, i'd like to define the word"talent" in my idea, a talent is one person who is good at or expertised in some or multiple areas. nowadays, as the world developing goes on , if one country want to rank top or do a good job in the world, the country must have many talents.for example, china, the biggest developing country in the world, in the past 100 years, is always invaded by other countries, why ,the reason is that china at that time had not so many talents. if they had anti-intrusion leader talents in the war, needless to say, they would have beat those big powers.if they had talents in weapons manufacturing, nodody dares to provoke us.however, nowadays, it's a totally different situation, china has become powerfulin all over the world, why ? because there are many talents serving the country, the civilians become more and more and more people go to university, more and more people come to receive further education. so what is that in return, talents in army protect our country from invasion, talents in commerce help make our economy keep in improving, talents in aerospace make the world see chinese manned spacecraft flying. talents in sports make china rank the first in the olympic games……
To sum up, talents will play a more and more impoetant role in the world, if one country intends to flourish, he must foster talents as many as they can ,that's all, thank you.
As the pace of life continues to increase, we are fast losing the art of you are in the habit of rushing through life, being on the go from morning till night,it is hard to slow down. But relaxation is essential for a healthy mind and body.
Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, it is not the bad thing as it is often supposed to be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. It is only when the stress gets out of control can it lead to poor performance and ill health.
The amount of stress a person can withstand depends very much on the individual. Some people are not afraid of stress, and such characters are obviously prime material for managerial responsibilities. Others lose heart at the first signs of unusual difficulties. When exposed to stress, in whatever form, we react both chemically and physically. In fact, we make a choice between "flight or fight"and in more primitive days the choices made the difference between life or death. The crises we meet today are unlikely to be so extreme, but however little the stress, it involves the same response. It is when such a reaction lasts long, through continued exposure to stress, that health becomes endangered. Such serious conditions as high blood pressure and heart diseases have established links with stress. Since we cannot remove stress from our lives (it would be unwise to do so even if we could), we need to find ways to deal with it.

A Lesson from Nature
Ladies and gentlemen: Good morning! Today, the title of my speech is A Lesson from Nature.
Around us , there are plants, animals and many other things. We live in nature, so to keep the balance of nature is very important for us. But today, too many trees are still being cut down in many countries and flood all over the world are getting more and more serious, A lot of land has gone with them. This is a lesson from nature.
When people move into a new place, they often cut down trees or pull out many wild plants to make farmland. They don’t know that trees can stop flood and wind from washing or blowing the earth away, and that many of these wild plants are food for some wild animals. If the animals can’t find enough plants to eat, they will die or have to leave the place.
In one part of the United States, for example, the deer there like to eat a kind of wild flowers. The mountain tigers there eat the deer. But people killed many mountain tigers to protect the deer. soon there were so many deer that the ate up all the wild flowers. Then the deer began to eat the green leaves of the young trees .so the farmers thought of ways to protect their trees, then the deer had nothing to eat and many of them died.
The number of trees, deer, tigers, wild flowers and plants has changed much—less and less. We need to do more to keep the balance of nature.
Thank you

What life is about
“Good morning! Ladies and gentlemen”。 Today, the title of my speech is “What life is about”
As we all know, the most important thing in life is our attitude towards it, lots of men have tried different ways of treating life, and some succeeded, some failed, and here are some of the tips they left us. Life isn’t about keeping score. Li
Today, mom and Dad took me to the park to row. WOW! There are so many people rowing! There are big boats and small boats. We rented a big white goose boat. The white goose held its head high and its tail high. Mom and dad rowing, I master the steering wheel, like the captain, the ship slowly walked forward, so happy! Suddenly I hit someone else's boat. My father told me how to master the direction. I became more and more skilled. Suddenly I saw a fish floating on the lake. I rowed to see it was a dead fish. The lake is sparkling and beautiful. In a twinkling of an eye, an hour later, we should go ashore, I reluctantly left the cruise ship.
This morning, dad and I went back to grandma Zhou Gang's house. As soon as I got to grandma's house, I couldn't wait to run to the orange tree. I saw that there were yellow and green oranges. I picked one, peeled the skin and ate one. It was sour and sweet. It was delicious. I called Dad to pick the oranges.
When my father was picking oranges, I carefully observed that the outer skin of the oranges was yellow and green, and the pulp inside was yellow, full of white warp threads. I like eating oranges very much, but my father and I said that oranges are delicious, but I can't eat more. If I eat more, I will get angry and my tongue will blister.
Dear headmasters, teachers, classmates and fris:
I'm very proud that I have chosen to speak to you all today, I'm a bit
nervous as I've never made a speech before to so many people, so please forgive me if it shows.
As we all know, the environmemt around us is getting worse and worse . In some places we can't see fish swimming in the river or trees on the hills. Some people even have no clean water to drink. So I think we must do something to protect the environment. But what can we do?How to protect our environmemt? For example, we can go to school on foot or by bike . we can use shopping basskets not plastic bags . when we go shopping and we can use both sides of the paper when we write . In a word, if everyone pays more attention to our environment, there will be less pollution and our life will be better.
"There is only one earth", I hope everyone will protect our environment well.
Thanks!

With the development of the Internet and the popularization of computers shopping on the Internet has become a commonplace in our life. Here consumers can buy almost everything they need.
Shopping on the Internet has a lot of advantages of which the most important is perhaps its convenience. People don't have to waste a lot of their energy and precious time to go from one shop to another to choose the commodities they like. This is especially desirable to the old the sick and the busy people who cannot go to the shops in person. The goods come in all shapes sizes and colors on the Internet. All they need to do is to sit in front of their computers and click the mouses. The commodities they order will be delivered to them promptly.
However shopping on the Internet also has its disadvantages. The first disadvantage is that the consumers can't see the goods or try them on personally. Sometimes the real goods may not be the same as what they have seen on the computer. The second disadvantage is that some shops on the Internet are not registered. They will never deliver anything to you after they get the money from you. Once cheated you will find that you have nowhere to go to complain.
a few years ago, i felt like i was stuck in a rut, so i decided to follow in the footsteps of the great american philosopher, morgan spurlock, and try something new for 30 days. the idea is actually pretty simple. think about something you’ve always wanted to add to your life and try it for the next 30 days. it turns out, 30 days is just about the right amount of time to add a new habit or subtract a habit — like watching the news — from your life.
there’s a few things i learned while doing these 30-day challenges. the first was, instead of the months flying by, forgotten, the time was much more memorable. this was part of a challenge i did to take a picture everyday for a month. and i remember exactly where i was and what i was doing that day. i also noticed that as i started to do more and harder 30-day challenges, my self-confidence grew. i went from desk-dwelling computer nerd to the kind of guy who bikes to work — for fun. even last year, i ended up hiking up mt. kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in africa. i would never have been that adventurous before i started my 30-day challenges.
i also figured out that if you really want something badly enough, you can do anything for 30 days. have you ever wanted to write a novel? every november, tens of thousands of people try to write their own 50,000 word novel from scratch in 30 days. it turns out, all you have to do is write 1,667 words a day for a month. so i did. by the way, the secret is not to go to sleep until you’ve written your words for the day. you might be sleep-deprived, but you’ll finish your novel. now is my book the next great american novel? no. i wrote it in a month. it’s awful. but for the rest of my life, if i meet john hodgman at a ted party, i don’t have to say, “i’m a computer scientist.” no, no, if i want to i can say, “i’m a novelist.”
(laughter)
so here’s one last thing i’d like to mention. i learned that when i made small, sustainable changes, things i could keep doing, they were more likely to stick. there’s nothing wrong with big, crazy challenges. in fact, they’re a ton of fun. but they’re less likely to stick. when i gave up sugar for 30 days, day 31 looked like this.
(laughter)
so here’s my question to you: what are you waiting for? i guarantee you the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days.

Never Lose the Vision of Reality
Good afternoon, Ladies and gentlemen,
My topic today is Never Lose the Vision of Reality. Talking about dreams and future, I would say, dreams should never be too far away from reality. Detaching from reality, lacking solid or practical actions, any future plan or dream project will be nothing short of daydreaming, or, at most well-intentioned thinking. Here I am reminded the year of 20xx, when 191 member states of the United Nations held a World Summit Conference, which made a declaration known as the Millennium Development Goals. The goals of 20xx, which every member state pledged to meet, were such as, elimination of hunger and poverty, drastic reduction in child mortality rates, reversing a spread of AIDS and other deadly diseases, etc. Now, six years later, almost half way to the final year of 20xx, do we see any signs of realizing these goalsToday, half the world- about three billion people, still live under two U.S. dollars a day; about 270 million children have no access to safe water, 11 million children die before they reach the age of five each year. Do we come to harness the spread of the AIDSThe answer is also “no”- and indeed AIDS is spreading faster and wider than ever before. What is even worse, with the wake of the Iraqi War, the nuclear crisis in Iran and unsettled situations in many places, the visions of us young people today are often limited- but the limited vision (that) we do have and care about every day
cannot change the conviction that this world does not seem to promise a very bright future before us. Who is to blame for all thisOf course, we can blame the government: how they… disappointing they all seem to be: in one moment they are pledging to build a better future for us, and the other moment they’re igniting wars, killing more innocent people. But don’t you think we ordinary folks should also take some responsibilities for, say, elimination of hunger and povertyWhen we are quickly rushing to schools, works, or places of entertainment, how many times do we stop just to hand over some food to the deprived on the streetsWhen we are reading newspaper, browsing for news about what is going on in this world, how often do we stop to think about actual ways that we can do to help the people who’re suffering from various disastrous situationsIn fact, how much have we done to help the people who are in need just around usDreams are certainly beautiful and indispensable in our life, for they give us inspiration and motivation. Future plans are certainly necessary, for they provide us with goals and guides. But what is most beautiful and important is an action on a day-to-day basis. In order to realize our dreams or make our future goals realized, we need to put our words into deeds and base our vision on reality. In other words, while human beings should be, first and foremost, idealists and thinkers, we should also be, and all the more, realists and practical doers.
Thank you.
Good afternoon, my dear friends.
One day in 1819, 3,000 miles off the coast of Chile, in one of the most remote regions of the Pacific Ocean, 20 American sailors watched their ship flood with seawater.
They'd been struck by a sperm whale, which had ripped a catastrophic hole in the ship's hull. As their ship began to sink beneath the swells, the men huddled together in three small whaleboats.
These men were 10,000 miles from home, more than 1,000 miles from the nearest scrap of land. In their small boats, they carried only rudimentary navigational equipment and limited supplies of food and water.
These were the men of the whaleship Essex, whose story would later inspire parts of “Moby Dick.”
Even in today's world, their situation would be really dire, but think about how much worse it would have been then.
No one on land had any idea that anything had gone wrong. No search party was coming to look for these men. So most of us have never experienced a situation as frightening as the one in which these sailors found themselves, but we all know what it's like to be afraid.
We know how fear feels, but I'm not sure we spend enough time thinking about what our fears mean.
As we grow up, we're often encouraged to think of fear as a weakness, just another childish thing to discard like baby teeth or roller skates.
And I think it's no accident that we think this way. Neuroscientists have actually shown that human beings are hard'wired to be optimists.
So maybe that's why we think of fear, sometimes, as a danger in and of itself. “Don't worry,” we like to say to one another. “Don't panic.” In English, fear is something we conquer. It's something we fight.
It's something we overcome. But what if we looked at fear in a fresh way? What if we thought of fear as an amazing act of the imagination, something that can be as profound and insightful as storytelling itself?
It's easiest to see this link between fear and the imagination in young children, whose fears are often extraordinarily vivid.
When I was a child, I lived in California, which is, you know, mostly a very nice place to live, but for me as a child, California could also be a little scary.
I remember how frightening it was to see the chandelier that hung above our dining table swing back and forth during every minor earthquake, and I sometimes couldn't sleep at night, terrified that the Big One might strike while we were sleeping.
And what we say about kids who have fears like that is that they have a vivid imagination. But at a certain point, most of us learn to leave these kinds of visions behind and grow up.
We learn that there are no monsters hiding under the bed, and not every earthquake brings buildings down. But maybe it's no coincidence that some of our most creative minds fail to leave these kinds of fears behind as adults.
The World's Greatest Swordsman.
At an exhibition of the world's best swordsman, the third-place fencer took the stage. A fly was released, and with an arc of his sword he cut the fly in half. The crowd cheered. Then the second-place man sliced a fly into quarters. A hush fell in anticipation of the world's greatest swordsman.
His blade came down in a mighty arc - but the insect continued on its way! The crowd was aghast. The greatest swordsman had missed his target completely, yet he continued to smile.
"Why are you so happy?" someone yelled. "You missed!"
"Ah," replied the swordsman, "you weren't watching very carefully. They fly lives, yes - but he will never be a father."
