There’s this famous quote that can spark an interest to challenge yourself within you:
“If something that you’re doing doesn’t challenge you, then it doesn’t change you.” Unknown
Of course, since every one of us has room for improvement, this can also mean if you don’t change yourself, then you can’t be responsible for changing your situation in life. You can never see any improvement in your life if you stick to your comfort zone. We all need a healthy dose of normal stress in our lives, after all. We can only see what we’re really capable of if we make the effort to go over our pre-conceived limits. Don’t limit the challenges you encounter in life - challenge the limits that your “lizard brain” crafted instead:
1. Learn a new language.
Hangul, Nihonggo, French, Filipino, Mandarin, Spanish: these are just some of the languages you can discover as you strive to challenge yourself. Learning a new language isn’t just another way to pad your resume; if you really get into it, you can even use this skill to tutor on the side and earn extra cash.
2. Figure out what you’re scared of – and do it for one week consistently.
If you’re in sales, and you’re scared of talking to people personally or over the phone, then you have a problem. You can’t just relate with your clients online, can you? Now, instead of crippling in fear and automatically thinking you’ll fail, spend at least five minutes a day to pick up the phone and make a call to a prospect. Yes, it’s scary. Yes, you may embarrass yourself. And yes, someone may hang up on you. But don’t stop on the first try just yet! You’ll get the hang of it eventually. After a while, you can look at fear in the eyes and say, “Go on, I’m not scared!”
3. Take a class for a hobby you’ve been wanting to pursue.
Make sure this hobby is not linked to your career; you have to relax and de-stress while performing this. Some examples might be cooking, sewing, painting and graphic designing online.
Aside from helping you challenge yourself now, taking a class for your hobby can also give you extra income if you learn how to monetize it. (You get plus points if you take the class with a loved one. This way, you combine bonding, boosting your income and challenging yourself.)
4. Attend one career-related seminar a month.
Don’t settle for your current job position. Aim high in your career. Of course, with that aim, include in your action, too. Book conferences that are relevant to the industry of your profession. There, absorb the lesson. Ask sensible questions. And don’t forget to connect with the attendees and the keynote speakers. Sometimes, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know,” may be a reality.
5. Make a realistic budget and find out how you can cut back on something so you can invest more.
Challenge yourself to step out of your current budget and develop a better budget for yourself. Money management is not about what you make – it’s what you do with what you make.
- So, produce a budget on paper, or in an Microsoft Excel file.
- Identify the item you’ve been spending so much money on.
- Cut back on that item so you have more money to put in your emergency fund or in your investment fund.
6. Dedicate at least nine minutes a day for physical exercise.
You don’t need to go to the gym, you know. A simple 9-minute run around your neighborhood or an intense dance routine done in your living-room can do wonders for yourself. Aside from the obvious reason that exercise can help you maintain your regular weight or shed those unnecessary pounds, it can also aid in making you feel better about yourself by releasing endorphins.
7. Travel and allow yourself to be interested in new people.
We’re not talking about the expensive kind of travelling here. Something cost-effective like going to your local museum or visiting the resort in the next city can all count as travelling! Here, don’t just limit yourself to your fellow travelers – try to connect with the service staff, like the lifeguard, or the receptionist, or the tour guide. You never know what kind of people they’re going to be. Get out of your house or go online right now to book your class. Start now and learn to challenge yourself from time to time. We all need a little push once in a while.
Choose Optimism--By Rich De Vos
If you expect something to turn out badly, it probably will.Pessimism is seldom disappointed. But the same principle also works in reverse. If you expect good things to happen, they usually do! There seems to be a natural cause-and-effect relationship between optimism and success.
Optimism and pessimism are both powerful forces, and each of us must choose which we want to shape our outlook and our expectations. There is enough good and bad in everyone’s life — ample sorrow and happiness, sufficient joy and pain — to find a rational basis for either optimism or pessimism. We can choose to laugh or cry, bless or curse. It’s our decision: From which perspective do we want to view life? Will we look up in hope or down in despair?
I believe in the upward look. I choose to highlight the positive and slip right over the negative. I am an optimist by choice as much as by nature. Sure, I know that sorrow exists. I am in my 70s now, and I’ve lived through more than one crisis. But when all is said and done, I find that the good in life far outweighs the bad.
An optimistic attitude is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. The way you look at life will determine how you feel, how you perform, and how well you will get along with other people. Conversely, negative thoughts, attitudes, and expectations feed on themselves; they become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Pessimism creates a dismal place where no one wants to live.
Years ago, I drove into a service station to get some gas. It was a beautiful day, and I was feeling great. As I walked into the station to pay for the gas, the attendant said to me, “How do you feel?” That seemed like an odd question, but I felt fine and told him so. “You don’t look well,” he replied. This took me completely by surprise. A little less confidently, I told him that I had never felt better. Without hesitation, he continued to tell me how bad I looked and that my skin appeared yellow.
By the time I left the service station, I was feeling a little uneasy. About a block away, I pulled over to the side of the road to look at my face in the mirror. How did I feel? Was I jaundiced? Was everything all right? By the time I got home, I was beginning to feel a little queasy. Did I have a bad liver? Had I picked up some rare disease?
The next time I went into that gas station, feeling fine again, I figured out what had happened. The place had recently been painted a bright, bilious yellow, and the light reflecting off the walls made everyone inside look as though they had hepatitis! I wondered how many other folks had reacted the way I did. I had let one short conversation with a total stranger change my attitude for an entire day. He told me I looked sick, and before long, I was actually feeling sick. That single negative observation had a profound effect on the way I felt and acted.
The only thing more powerful than negativism is a positive affirmation, a word of optimism and hope. One of the things I am most thankful for is the fact that I have grown up in a nation with a grand tradition of optimism. When a whole culture adopts an upward look, incredible things can be accomplished. When the world is seen as a hopeful, positive place, people are empowered to attempt and to achieve.

Just for today
Just for today I will try to live through this day only and not tackle my whole life problem at once。 I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime。
Just for today I will be happy。 This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be。"
Just for today I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires。 I will take my "luck" as it es。
Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind。 I will study。 I will learn something useful。 I will not be a mental loafer。 I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration。
Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways。 I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out: If anybody knows of it, it will not count。 I will do at least two things I don't want to do—just for exercise。 I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt: they may be hurt, but today I will not show it。
Just for today I will be agreeable。 I will look as well as I can, dress beingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit,and try not to improve or regulate anybody but myself。
Just for today I will have a program, I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it。 I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision。
Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself and relax。 During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective of my life。
Just for today I will be unafraid。 Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me。
Today I shed my old skin which hath, too long, suffered the bruises of failure and the wounds of mediority。
Today I am born anew and my birthplace is a vineyard where there is fruit for all。
Today I will pluck grapes of wisdom from the tallest and fullest vines in the vineyard, for these were planted by the wisest of my profession who have come before me,generation upon generation。
Today I will savor the taste of grapes from these vines and verily I will swallow the seed of success buried in each and new life will sprout within me。
The career I have chosen is laden with opportunity yet it is fraught with heartbreak and despair and the bodies of those who have failed, were they piled one atop another, would cast a shadow down upon all the pyramids of the earth。
Yet I will not fail, as the others, for in my hands I now hold the charts which will guide through perilous waters to shores which only yesterday seemed but a dream。
Failure no longer will be my payment for struggle。 Just as nature made no provision for my body to tolerate pain neither has it made any provision for my life to suffer failure。 Failure, like pain, is alien to my life。 In the past I accepted it as I accepted pain。 Now I reject it and I am prepared for wisdom and principles which will guide me out of the shadows into the sunlight of wealth, position, and happiness far beyond my most extravagant dreams until even the golden apples in the Garden of Hesperides will seem no more than my just reward。
Time teaches all things to him who lives forever but I have not the luxury of eternity。 Yet within my allotted time I must practice the art of patience for nature acts never in haste。 To create the olive, king of all trees, a hundred years is required。 An onion plant is old in nine weeks。 I have lived as an onion plant。 It has not pleased me。 Now I wouldst become the greatest of olive trees and, in truth, the greatest of salesman。
And how will this be accomplished? For I have neither the knowledge nor the experience to achieve the greatness and already I have stumbled in ignorance and fallen into pools of self—pity。 The answer is simple。 I will commence my journey unencumbered with either the weight of unnecessary knowledge or the handicap of meaningless experience。 Nature already has supplied me with knowledge and instinct far greater than any beast in the forest and the value of experience is overrated, usually by old men who nod wisely and speak stupidly。
In truth, experience teaches thoroughly yet her course of instruction devours men's years so the value of her lessons diminishes with the time necessary to acquire her special wisdom。 The end finds it wasted on dead men。 Furthermore, experience is comparable to fashion; an action that proved successful today will be unworkable and impractical tomorrow。
Only principles endure and these I now possess, for the laws that will lead me to greatness are contained in the words of these scrolls。 What they will teach me is more to prevent failure than to gain success, for what is success other than a state of mind? Which two, among a thouand wise men, will define success in the same words; yet failure is always described but one way。 Failure is man's inability to reach his goals in life, whatever they may be。
In truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have successed lies in the difference of their habits。 Good habits are the key to all success。 Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure。 Thus, the first law I will obey, which precedeth all others is ——I will form good habits and become their slave。
As a child I was slave to my impulses; now I am slave to my habits, as are all grown men。 I have surrendered my free will to the years of accumulated habits and the past deeds of my life have already marked out a path which threatens to imprison my future。 My actions are ruled by appetite, passion, prejudice, greed, love, fear, environment, habit, and the worst of these tyrants is habit。 Therefore, if I must be a slave to habit let me be a slave to good habits。 My bad habits must be destroyed and new furrows prepared for good seed。
I will form good habits and become their slave。
And how will I accomplish this difficult feat? Through these scrolls, it will be done, for each scroll contains a principle which will drive a bad habit from my life and replace it with one which will bring me closer to success。 For it is another of nature's laws that only a habit can subdue another habit。 So, in order for these written words to perform their chosen task, I must discipline myself with the first of my new habits which is as follows:
I will read each scroll for thirty days in this prescribed manner, before I proceed to the next scroll。
First, I will read the words in silence when I arise。 Then, I will read the words in silence after I have partaken of my midday meal。 Last, I will read the words again just before I retire at day's end, and most important, on this occasion I will read the words aloud。
On the next day I will repeat this procedure, and I will continue in like manner for thirty days。 Then, I will turn to the next scroll and repeat this procedure for another thirty days。 I will continue in this manner until I have lived with each scroll for thirty days and my reading has become habit。
And what will be accomplished with this habit? Herein lies the hidden secret of all man's accomplishments。 As I repeat the words daily they will soon become a part of my active mind, but more important, they will also seep into my other mind, that mysterious source which never sleeps, which creates my dreams, and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend。
As the words of these scrolls are consumed by my mysterious mind I will begin to awake, each morning, with a vitality I have never known before。 My vigor will increase, my enthusiasm will rise, my desire to meet the world will overcome every fear I once knew at sunrise, and I will be happier than I ever believed it possible to be in this world of strife and sorrow。
Eventually I will find myself reacting to all situations which confront me as I was commanded in the scrolls to react, and soon these actions and reactions will become easy to perform, for any act with practice becomes easy。
Thus a new and good habit is born, for when an act becomes easy through constant repetiton it becomes a pleasure to perform and if it is a pleasure to perform it is man's nature to perform it often。 When I perform it often it becomes a habit and I become its slave and since it is a good habit this is my will。
Today I begin a new life。
And I make a solemn oath to myself that nothing will retard my new life's growth。 I will lose not a day from these readings for that day cannot be retrieved nor can I substitute another for it。 I must not , I will not, break this habit of daily reading from these scrolls and, in truth, the few moments spent each day on this new habit are but a small price to pay for the happiness and success that will be mine。
As I read and re—read the words in the scrolls to follow, never will I allow the brevity of each scroll nor the simplicity of its words to cause me to treat the scroll's message lightly。 Thousands of grapes are pressed to fill one jar with wine, and the grapeskin and pulp are tossed to the birds。 So it is with these grapes of wisdom from the ages。 Much has been filtered and tossed to the wind。Only the pure truth lies distilled in the words to come。 I will drink as instructed and spill not a drop。 And the seed of success I will swallow。
Today my old skin has become as dust。 I will walk tall among men and they will know me not , for today I am a new man, with a new life。
Youth
Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind. It is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees. It is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep spring of life.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exits in a man of 60, more than a boy of grows merely by the number of years; we grow old by deserting our ideas. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.
Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from infinite, so long as you are young.
When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with the snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you’ve grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there’s hope you may die young at 80.
Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind. It is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep spring of life. These are what I have and what we have at this period of life. So, I'm still young, yes, definitely ! Come on my fellow friends, show your energy and passion to this god damn world ! Let the universe hear our voice, see our cheek, hug our enthusiasm and witness our maturity. We're going to create a brand new future !
What is Your Recovery Rate?
What is your recovery rate? How long does it take you to recover from actions and behaviors that upset you? Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks? The longer it takes you to recover, the more influence that incident has on your actions, and the less able you are to perform to your personal best. In a nutshell, the longer it takes you to recover, the weaker you are and the poorer your performance.
You are well aware that you need to exercise to keep the body fit and, no doubt, accept that a reasonable measure of health is the speed in which your heart and respiratory system recovers after exercise. Likewise the faster you let go of an issue that upsets you, the faster you return to an equilibrium, the healthier you will be. The best example of this behavior is found with professional sportspeople. They know that the faster they can forget an incident or missd opportunity and get on with the game, the better their performance. In fact, most measure the time it takes them to overcome and forget an incident in a game and most reckon a recovery rate of 30 seconds is too long!
Imagine yourself to be an actor in a play on the stage. Your aim is to play your part to the best of your ability. You have been given a script and at the end of each sentence is a ful stop. Each time you get to the end of the sentence you start a new one and although the next sentence is related to the last it is not affected by it. Your job is to deliver each sentence to the best of your ability.
Don’t live your life in the past! Learn to live in the present, to overcome the past. Stop the past from influencing your daily life. Don’t allow thoughts of the past to reduce your personal best. Stop the past from interfering with your life. Learn to recover quickly.
Remember: Rome wasn’t built in a day. Reflect on your recovery rate each day. Every day before you go to bed, look at your progress. Don’t lie in bed saying to you, “I did that wrong.” “I should have done better there.” No. look at your day and note when you made an effort to place a full stop after an incident. This is a success. You are taking control of your life. Remember this is a step by step process. This is not a make-over. You are undertaking real change here. Your aim: reduce the time spent in recovery.
The way forward?
Live in the present. Not in the precedent.

When someone looks into your eyes they should see something alive within you. Having a dream is like owning a lighthouse1 which directs you on your journey.
At every turn we come across its mystery. At each new level we become more of the person we were meant to become. In lonely times, when we pass through a storm of disappointment, we find our faith is unshaken, our strength still strong.
Believe in your faith. Set the vision before your eyes. Write down your most sincere dreams and when the opportunity comes, step into your dream. It may take one season or more, but the result is the same. Make big dreams and then go out and make them realities. The highest hopes of the dreamer are revealed with every step taken in their journey to the impossible. For a season we must protect the dream so that it can grow quietly on the inside. But if we tenderly care for our deepest expectations, slowly but surely the dream will become new life.
Dreaming is an act of faith. The light of your expectations will cast off the shadows of a disbelieving world. God has given us the dreamer as a gift to light an unbelieving world.
Find your treasure within and cherish2 it. Tomorrow is waiting for you to take the first step.
Today is an excellent day for small improvements. Whatever is working for you, find a way to improve it just a little. There’s no need to make a huge change, just a small one, something you can do right now.
If you called just one additional customer each day, over the course of the next month you would talk to about 20 new people. If you learned just one more new word each day, in the next year you would increase your vocabulary by more than 300 words.
Small improvements can add up over time into big accomplishments. Look around you. Consider the work you do each day. Think about how you could do it just a little bit better.
In a marathon race, each step the winner takes is just a little bit longer and a little bit faster than each stride taken by the 100th place finisher. Yet over the course of the race, that small difference adds up in a big way.
Do just a little bit more today, and tomorrow too, and each day after that. Anyone can make just a small improvement, and that can make a big, big difference.
Do not believe in your own will, never become a general.
The Warring States era,a father and his son off to war.My father has done a general, his son was just a pawn. Also a horn sounded, the thunderous drums of war,my father solemnly hold a quiver,in which a flying arrow.Father solemnly said to his son:"this is a home attack treasure arrow, with the side, the power is infinite, but must not be drawn out."
It is an extremely delicate quiver, making thick leather, with a faint light copper pan edge, look at the exposed end of the eye can be identified with the finest peacock feathers.Son very happy, greedily suppose arrow, arrow shape, ear like whistling sound through arrow, the enemy's coach crashed off the horse and shoot.
Sure enough, with Bao arrow son extraordinary bravery, invincible. When the horn sounded troops, the son again also could not help but victorious pride, completely abandoned his father's exhortations, driving his strong desire to call a pull-out Bao arrow, trying to see what happens.Suddenly he was stunned.
A broken arrow, arrow bag filled with a broken arrow.
I always scoop out the broken arrow only fight it! Son in a cold sweat,as if an instant loss of the pillars of the house, came the collapse of the will.
The result is self-evident,the son died in the war.
Misty smoke, the father picked up the arrow, heavily said:"I do not believe they will never do the general."
The victory or defeat lies in a treasure arrow, how stupid, and when a person and handle the core of life to others, and how dangerous! For example, put their hopes in the children; the happiness depends on her husband; the life security lies in the unit body.。.。.。
Reminder:his is an arrow,if it tough,if it is sharp,if it archery,crack shot,sharpen it,it can only save yourself.
I do not know who wrote those words, but I have always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want to make it.
We can take the mysterious, hazy future and carve out of it anything that we can imagine, just like a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.
We are all in the position of the farmer. If we plant a good seed, we reap a good harvest. If our seed is poor and full of weeds, we reap a useless crop. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.
I want the future to be better than the past. I don’t want it contaminated by the mistakes and errors with which history is filled. We should all be concerned about the future because that is where we will spend the reminder of our lives.
The past is gone and static. Nothing we can do will change it. The future is before us and dynamic. Everything we do will effect it.
Each day will brings with it new frontiers, in our homes and in our businesses, if we will only recognize them. We are just at the beginning of the progress in every field of human endeavor.
I believe that everyone wants to love and be loved and that happiness stems from a facing and acceptance of self that allows you to give and receive love.
Some think of love as a passionate, hungry, dramatic feeling, all consuming in intensity and desire. As I see it, this is, rather, immature love: it is a demand on others, not a giving of oneself. Mature love, the love that brings happiness, flows out of an inner fullness, and accepts, understands and is tender toward the other person. It does not ask to be served but only where it may serve.
Six years ago I could hardly breathe because of acute sinus. My stomach was always upset and full of queasiness and I had trouble sleeping, even though I felt exhausted all the time. In desperation, after doctors who treated the physical symptoms failed to ease the pain, I tried psychoanalysis. I was lucky to find a wise, compassionate man who showed me what it meant to be able to trust myself and others.
The physical ills are gone, but more than that, I have at long last started to acquire a philosophy of living. I had never possessed one. I had lived on dogma and dicta which I had accepted unquestioningly through the years, even though I believed little of it, because I feared to question. But by being unable to live naturally and at peace with myself I was flying in the face of nature. She was punishing me with illness and, at the same time, informing me all was not well just in case I wanted to do something about it.
In order to change, I needed help in facing myself. For me it was not easy to “know thyself”。 All my life I had accepted the lesser of the two evils and run away from self because truth was more dangerous. Once I thought that to survive I had to put on a mask and forget what lay underneath. But masks are false protections and the inner part of me refused to go unheard forever.
It caught up eventually, and unless it was to master me I had to face such feelings as fear, anger, envy, hatred, jealousy and excessive need for attention. When I realized I could not have done anything else except what I did, I was able to like myself more and be able to like others not for what they could give me but for what I could give to them.
The Bible shows the way to easy, happy living in many of its pages. It advises, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Those who expect the most are apt to receive the least. I had expected much and was filled with fury because nothing in the outside world relieved my emptiness and despair. Nothing did, either, until I could face the anger and fury, the emptiness and despair, and slowly start to know such new feelings as compassion, conviction, control, calm. I learned, too, of reason—that judicious combination of thought and feeling that enables me to take more responsibility for myself and others, that allows me to slay the ghosts of the past.
For me there is much hard work ahead to achieve greater happiness. Yet, the very struggle I have put into achieving a measure of it makes happiness that much more dear.
Innovation
The term innovation may refer to both radical and incremental changes in thinking, in things, in processes or in services (Mckeown, 20xx) Invention that gets out in to the world is innovation. In many fields, something new must be substantially different to be innovative, not an insignificant change, e.g., in the arts, economics, business and government policy. In economics the change must increase value, customer value, or producer value. The goal of innovation is positive change, to make someone or something better. Innovation leading to increased productivity is the fundamental source of increasing wealth in an economy.
Innovation is an important topic in the study of economics, business, technology, sociology, and engineering. Colloquially, the word "innovation" is often used as synonymous with the output of the process. Since innovation is also considered a major driver of the economy, the factors that lead to innovation are also considered to be critical to policy makers.
Dream What You Dream of 做你想做的梦
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!
When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
1. Make yourself a priority
If you don’t take care of yourself, nobody else will. You have to be number one. All things in your life stem from your happiness. Be someone who makes you happy!
2. Enjoy the small things
Take walks more often. Stop and look at a babbling brook. Sit in an oversized chair at Barnes & Noble and read a great book. Observe an elderly couple holding hands. Life is made up of these small and seemingly insignificant things. They aren’t insignificant. Be sure to take the time to appreciate them.
3. Get outside
Being outdoors is good for you. Soak in the sunlight, get those endorphins kicking, and enjoy the beauty that nature offers.
4. Be confident in who you are
Every person is unique and special in their own way. Understanding this early in life is critical. Be proud of who you are and don’t be afraid to let the world know it.
5. Take calculated risks
Life is a series of risks and rewards. Be smart with your risks and understand the consequences.
6. Focus on the present
Worrying to a certain degree about your future is normal, but don’t overlook the power of being in the present moment. You can’t change the past, but you can control what you do right now.
7. Stop caring about what people think of you
Fear of criticism is one of the most destructive fears known to humanity. It can debilitate you to the point paralysis. Learn early in life that it doesn’t matter what people think of you. It really doesn’t. And besides, people are too worried about what you think about them to care about you!
8. Remember that people are good at heart
Being a lifelong cynic can and will make your life an uphill climb. Recognize that people are inherently good and you will embrace relationships in a far greater capacity.
9. Be a positive person
Make being positive a habit early in life. Your success in life will come from your thoughts and your thoughts can be either negative or positive. Only you can control which you choose.
10. Let go of negative influences
Avoid bad situations, unhealthy relationships, and people who make your life worse. Letting go of a good friend who is going to drag you down is a difficult yet intelligent decision. Failure to do so can negatively affect where you end up in life.
I have a few candles stored in a drawer in my dining room. They’re meant for romantic dinners and special occasions, but since the arrival of our three children they have lain unnoticed among the napkins and other things. They are waiting to be taken out and lit to share their glow with anyone who will take the time to bask in their brilliance.
Are not our souls like those candles, patiently waiting for someone to come and let us be ourselves? We are all waiting for our own moments to shine; we each have a special light, unmatched by any other.
Candles are made up of wax and a wick; we have bodies, but our essence lies in our minds and souls. Candles are unique in their colors, shapes and designs. Our life histories and experiences are the backdrops of who we are, but our minds are like candle wicks, and make our passions flame. Unlike the candles in my drawer, who get used or not used depending on my whims, we control our own thoughts, and how brightly we will burn or dimly we will shine.
Is your soul candle dimmed by circumstance or lack of passion and direction? Is it hidden in a drawer of stress, worry or resentment? Make a choice to let yourself shine the way you were meant to shine.
Enjoy that uniquenesss1. You do not have to pretend in order to seem more like someone else. You do not have to lie to hide the parts of you that are not like what you see in anyone else.
You were meant to be different. Nowhere, in all of history, will the same things be going on in anyone’s mind, soul and spirit as are going on in yours right now.
If you did not exist, there would be a hole in creation, a gap2 in history, and something missing from the plan for humankind. Treasure your uniqueness. It is a gift given only to you. Enjoy it and share it!
No one can reach out to others in the same way that you can. No one can speak your words. No one can convey your meanings. No one can comfort others with your kind of comfort. No one can bring your kind of understanding to another person. No one can be cheerful and light-hearted3 and joyous4 in your way. No one can smile your smile. No one else can bring the whole unique impact of you to another human being.
Share your uniqueness. Let it flow out freely among your family and friends, and the people you meet in the rush and clutter of living, wherever you are. That gift of yourself was given to you to enjoy and share. Give yourself away!
See it! Receive it!
Let it inform you, move you and inspire you!
You are unique!
“We are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book whose pages are infinite…”
I do not know who wrote those words, but I have always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want to make it. We can take the mysterious, hazy future and carve out of it anything that we can imagine, just as a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.

Some people go through life standing at the excuse counter.
They say they’d like to do this or that, but then they offer all the excuses in the world for why they can’t do whatever it is. No matter what the excuses are, the only thing that is usually limiting them is their own self-perception.
If I’ve learned anything, I’ve learned that a person —any person —may do anything they set their mind on doing. The things you need are willingness to work for what you want, patience to learn what you need to know and, most important of all, belief in yourself. You only need a seed, and then your faith in yourself will grow with you as you move forward.
If your self-perception is that you can’t accomplish something because you’re not smart enough, then take the time to learn what you need to know, and then your self-perception will change.
If your self-perception is that you can’t accomplish something because you never finish anything you start, then go and finish something and change your self- perception.
If your self-perception is that you’re too lazy, too busy, too unworthy, too unfocused, too depressed, or too dependent on others to accomplish great things, then you’re right. You are that because you believe you are, but in fact, you can change that! Life is change, and the past doesn’t equal the future. Your reality today is the result of your past beliefs and actions. Change your beliefs and actions, and you will change your future. Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right. You are what you think.
Think about that the next time you need an excuse.
A New Day 崭新的一天
The sun has begun to set and I hang up the smile I’ve worn all day, though I will make sure it is the first thing I put back on in the morning just in case it is “that day。” I want her to see me at my very best。
I do the normal routine, eat dinner, clean the house, write—the usual stuff。 And then I lay down hoping to fall asleep quickly so my new day will hurry up and arrive。 A new day with a brand new sun。 But as I lay there and wait for the world to turn half way around, I think about her。 And sometimes I smile, and sometimes that smile will turn into asnicker, and then often that snicker will turn into a burst of laughter。
And then there are times I get that lump in my throat and that tight feeling in my chest, and sometimes that feeling overwhelms me and begins to turn into a tear, and often that tear multiplies itself and I can no longer fight the feeling and I lose the battle。 Then somehow through either the joy or the sadness I drift and find myself asleep。 Then the dreams begin and keep me pany until my new day arrives。
When I awake it’s with such excitement because I tell myself this could be the day that every other day has led up to and the first day of the rest of my life。 I quickly don my smile because I do so want her to see me at my very best。 Then I look out the window because, even though I know it’s dawn, I still have to confirm I’ve been given another chance to find her。
And there it is…the sun, even when it’s cloudy; somehow I still see it。 And it smiles at me and I say, “Thank you,” and I smile back。
Then I ask myself, “Is this the day?” And the excitement rushes over me again。 And then I ask myself, “Where’s it going to be?”
Maybe it’ll be at the water fountain, and, unexpectedly, there I’ll find her, and much more than my thirst will be quenched。 Maybe it’ll be at the grocery store and there she’ll appear as I’m picking out fruit, and she’ll show me the difference between fresh and spoiled。 Then, from that moment, nothing that I eat will ever taste the same because she’ll bring out the simplest beauties in everything I see, taste, smell, hear, or touch。
Or maybe today will be the day when my angel brings an item up to the cash register without its price tag。 And as I wait behind this angel with all the frustrated people who are in such a hurry with their busy lives, I will find myself with such blessed extra time。 Just enough time to start a conversation with this beautiful vision standing in front of me that I might not otherwise have noticed, but, because of a “price check on register 5,” I was able to find her。
Thank you for the sun, which began my new day。 Thank you for granting me the faith when I arose this morning that I would find her in this new day。 But most of all, thank you for me not having to ever wait on another sunrise because whenever I want to see it, I will look at her and there it shall always be, in her eyes; she will forever hold it for me。
感谢太阳,它是新一天的开始。感谢你让我今早一齐床就满怀信心,明白自我能在这新的一天找到她。但最要感谢的是我不必再等下一个日出,因为无论我想何时看到它,我都能够看向她,它总会出此刻她的双眸里;
She is my sunrise, my dawn, my new day。
It is the road you take that decides your destiny but not your destiny that decides the road you take.
The question is: Are you satisfied with who you are? Are you doing what you are capable of doing? Do you get excited about what you are going to do when you get up in the morning? It is high time you asked these questions that reflect the truth about your life. More often than not we have the ability to achieve much greater things, but we get caught in the average things in life and waste our potential. Each one of us has immense ability. But most of us fail to use it. Why?
1、 There is no exact purpose for your life.
2、 You underestimate yourself.
3、 You are too busy to think about any-thing.
4、 You are in a comfortable zone.
5、 You fear failure.
Ask yourself, what difference am I making in the lives of others? Would you be happy and satisfied with what you have achieved? Are you following your passion? You must find what you love and what gives you fulfillment.
Don’t be afraid to make a new beginning. Go deep and explore the possibilities. As you go deeper and deeper, you begin to add meaning to your life.
There lies in the heart of every man and woman a quiet hunger:a longing for an earth shaking significance.
It can be heard in the quiet, most unedited times like when our head hits the pillow at night. As the pressures of the day fade away the voice catches our attention: “I was meant for more than this, there has got to be something more.”
Many people have learned to accept a life of quiet resignation, committed to maintaining the status-quo. But still, in the times we least expect it, we hear that distant call again: a call for meaning, purpose, passion, significance. It continues to haunt us, to stalk us, and as we try to silence it with reason and maturity we find that indeed, it is a fire within our bones and it will not yield.
Our suspicions are correct. There is a larger story and we have a role to play in it. It has been said that what a man does during his life shall echo throughout eternity.
If you are ready to find your purpose, find the voice. Go back to the places that you have heard it most clear. For some it comes in the early morning, before the cares of the day have drowned them out. For others it comes through music, or movies, or books, or it is found on a walk through the woods or on the side of a mountain.
Stick to your special talents
You were born with a special talent. It may be to sing, write, teach, paint, mentor, preach, defend or befriend. You have something special to offer the world, something you can do better than 10,000 others. You must keep learning and trying new things to find your special talent. The world needs your gift. Be aware that even a special talent can go stale if you don’t keep using and honing it. Endeavor to keep your talents and all your skills up to date.
An advantage isn’t an advantage unless you use it. Find ways to use your advantages to set and reach your goals. Likewise, you should recognize and then try to minimize the impact of your limitations. Remember that not all advantages are transferable. Just because you are talented in one area doesn’t mean that you will be talented at everything you try. The successful real estate investor can easily lose her money opening a restaurant. Stick to your advantages and don’t stray from them without reasoned justification.

You’ve probably heard the old saying “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.”
Perhaps you feel like it’s true. You look at other people’s lives, and you envy them. They seem to be doing so much better than you. They’ve got a great job. Lots of money. A happy home life. They seem to have it all. And you can’t help wishing that you did, too.
But none of us ever really know what it’s like to live someone else’s life. No-one’s life is perfect – whatever it looks like from the outside.
Plus, it’s a safe bet that some of your friends are looking at your life and thinking very similar things. Whatever state your life is in, you’ve got a lot of good things. You just need to recognize them again.
I. Enjoy What You Have
One of the best ways to love your current life is to write a list of things you’re grateful for. It doesn’t matter if they seem small or insignificant: little everyday moments of happiness count. You might think of:
1. People who you’re grateful for – your family, friends, housemates, co-workers…
你感激的那些人:你的家人、友人、室友、共事等等;
2. Treats which you enjoy – the smell of fresh coffee, the taste of dark chocolate, a long bath after a hard day…
你喜欢的那些货色:新颖现磨咖啡的香味,黑巧克力的滋味,还有辛劳一天后好好洗个热水澡;
3. Things which make your day easier – the dishwasher, online grocery shopping, fast internet access at work…
会让生活变得轻松的事物:洗碗机、网上购物、工作时的快捷网络;
4. Anything special which you’ve grown accustomed to – your wedding ring, your smartphone, a favorite coat…
已经让你变得习惯的特殊物件:结婚戒指、智能手机、最爱好的外套;

II. Focus on the Good Points
When we’re thinking about future goals and ambitions, it’s easy to end up in quite a negative mood about the present. Perhaps you start thinking through all the things you want to change in your life: losing weight, getting fit, quitting smoking, switching jobs…
As well as thinking of what you might want to change, look at the areas of your life which are currently good. Maybe:
1. You get on well with your colleagues at work, and you’ve got a good relationship with your boss
你跟同事相处得十分融洽,跟老板的关联也很好;
2. You’ve got some real strengths – like being able to establish a quick connection with clients, and being organised
你已经培育了一些真正的上风:比喻说能很快的与客户树立接洽,而且比拟有条理;
3. Your house is set up pretty much how you want it – there might not be loads of space, but it feels like home
家里的结构正是你始终想要的:可能空间不大,但无比有家的温馨;
…and so on. How could you make more of these good things? Perhaps you could spend more time on your hobbies, or concentrate on your particular strengths at work.
III. Live in the Moment
It’s appropriate to plan for the future, and to learn from the past – but it’s not a good idea to constantly have your mind on how “things will be better next year when…” or on “life was so much better last year because…”
Being able to live in the moment means appreciating what’s around you. It’s about having your attention on now, instead of reminiscing about what’s already gone, or worrying about what’s yet to come. Living in the moment means:
1. Enjoying your days off, without constantly thinking about Monday morning.
休息日就好好休息,别老是想着立刻要来的周一;
2. Taking time to stop and watch a beautiful sunset, or to enjoy the smell of fresh-mown grass.
花点时间停下来看看漂亮的夕阳,或者闻闻刚修剪过的草坪的青草香;
3. Eating your meals more mindfully – instead of grabbing a sandwich on the run.
By keeping your attention on the present moment, the here-and-now, you can get much more enjoyment from the life you already have.

4. For me, every hour is grace. And I feel gratitude in my heart each time I meet someone and look at his or her smile.
5. The soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the ecstatic experience.

8. Your pain is an opportunity for you to learn about yourself.
9. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.
10. A good time to laugh is anytime you can.

Don’t tire yourself out fighting against the challenges.Instead, find new energy by embracing1 those challenges and working through them to create real value.
Always remind yourself that discour-agement is nothing more than a response you’ve chosen. When you find that you’ve chosen to let it be,you can just as surely choose to let it go.
Replace discouragement with determin-ation.It is your life’s energy, and you can point it in whatever direction you choose.Your most powerful response is not based only on what has already happened.Your most powerful response also takes into account what you wish to make happen next.
Look forward, and envision in great detail the future you desire. Then gather all your energy, and step forward to make it be.
There are two friends together to go to distant places to find the happiness of life and happiness,on the way in time to reach the target will brave the wind and dew,and encountered a roaring waves of the sea,and the sea shore is happiness and joy of heaven, about how to live through the sea,two people have different views,a a suggestion of logging near trees caused a wooden boat to cross the sea, another is that no matter which cannot be got the sea crossing, and why bother with the dead, the current dry,and then easily walk.
Then, proposed shipbuilding people every day to cut down trees, ships manufacturing hard and actively, and incidentally, learn to swim; and one day rest and sleep, then do not observe to the river day, when a friend of the ship was ready to sail out of the sea, another friend was still laughing at his stupidity.
However,a friend of shipbuilding is not angry.Just before leaving,he said something to his friend:"to do everything is not always successful, but if you don't do everything, you will never get the chance to succeed."
Can think of to do to lay seawater over the sea, this is indeed a great idea, but unfortunately, this is just a "great" doomed to failure and creative.
The sea never dried up,and the friend of that shipyard finally reached the other side of the target after a storm. The two men later settled down on the two banks of the sea,and they also spawned many of their own side of the sea is called the fertile land of happiness and happiness. We live in a group of people who are called diligent and courageous. The other side of the sea is called failure and loss, and live in a group of people we call lazy and cowardly.
This story tells us:
(one) it is better to stand up than to stand up by thinking.
(two) no matter how long you have gone and how tired you are,do not lie down at the door of the "successful" home.
(three) dreams are not fantasies.
If you could choose what kind of world to live in, what kind of world would you choose? If you could decide what would happen tomorrow, with what kinds of things would you fill it?
If you had the power to decide what types of opportunities would come your way, what opportunities would you select? If you knew that your experiences would match your expectations, what would your expectations be?
In fact, you do have the power to choose your own way. You do have the ability to decide what kinds of events, experiences, opportunities and circumstances come your way.
The world you experience is the world that your dreams, your thoughts, your expectations and your actions most closely resonate. The world you see and live in is the world you most sincerely expect to see.
The universe is filled with endless possibilities, and those possibilities keep growing with every minute. The way you live determines which of those possibilities will come into your life.
With your thoughts, your actions, your values, your dreams and expectations, you choose what kind of world you live in. The way you live is closely mirrored in the world you see.
Catch the star that holds your destiny, the one that forever twinkles within your heart. Take advantage of precious opportunities while they still sparkle before you. Always believe that your ultimate goal is attainable as long as you commit yourself to it.

Knowledge is one thing, virtue is another; good sense is not conscience, refinement is not humility, nor is largeness and justness of view faith. Philosophy, however enlightened, however profound, gives no command over the passions, no influential motives, no vivifying principles.
Liberal Education makes not the Christian, not the Catholic, but the gentleman. It is well to be a gentleman, it is well to have a cultivated intellect, a delicate taste, a candid, equitable, dispassionate mind, a noble and courteous bearing in the conduct of life--these are the connatural qualities of a large knowledge; they are the objects of a University; I am advocating, I shall illustrate and insist upon them; but still, I repeat, they are no guarantee for sanctity or even for conscientiousness, they may attach to the man of the world, to the profligate, to the heartless, pleasant, alas, and attractive as he shows when decked out in them. Taken by themselves, they do but seem to be what they are not; they look like virtue at a distance, but they are detected by close observers, and on the long run; and hence it is that they are popularly accused of pretense and hypocrisy, not, I repeat, from their own fault, but because their professors and their admirers persist in taking them for what they are not, and are officious in arrogating for them a praise to which they have no claim. Quarry the granite rock with razors, or moor the vessel with a thread of silk, then may you hope with such keen and delicate instruments as human knowledge and human reason to contend against those giants, the passion and the pride of man.

Life is not about just getting by.Life is about reaching ever higher, building one achievement on top of another, and creating real, meaningful value in each moment.
A common stone on the ground does a great job of just getting by.You,on the other hand, are destined1 for much more spectacular things.Yes,indeed, you will certainly meet a number of challenges when you make the effort to raise your world even a little bit higher. The good thing is,you are superbly equipped to thrive on those challenges.
If life seems unsuccessful,it’s not because of the challenges or limitations that stand in your way. It’s because you refuse to see the exceptional opportunities that those challenges represent.
This is your precious and unique life, and it is absolutely worth all the trouble and effort you must go through to make it great.Within you at this moment are beautiful dreams, and you can begin to live in the direction of those dreams whenever you choose.
Let go of the false security of just getting by,and get yourself into focus on a purpose that will bring your life gloriously to life.Your very own pathway to success is just one quick step away.
What is your direction indicator of ascended
One windy spring day, I observed young people having fun using the wind to fly their kites。 Multicolored creations of varying shapes and sizes filled the skies like beautiful birds darting and dancing。 As the strong winds gusted against the kites, a string kept them in check。
Instead of blowing away with the wind, they arose against it to achieve great heights。 They shook and pulled, but the restraining string and the cumbersome tail kept them in tow, facing upward and against the wind。 As the kites struggled and trembled against the string, they seemed to say, “Let me go! Let me go! I want to be free!” They soared beautifully even as they fought the restriction of the string。 Finally, one of the kites succeeded in breaking loose。 “Free at last,” it seemed to say。 “Free to fly with the wind。”
Yet freedom from restraint simply put it at the mercy of an unsympathetic breeze。 It fluttered ungracefully to the ground and landed in a tangled mass of weeds and string against a dead bush。 “Free at last” free to lie powerless in the dirt, to be blown helplessly along the ground, and to lodge lifeless against the first obstruction。
How much like kites we sometimes are。 The Heaven gives us adversity and restrictions, rules to follow from which we can grow and gain strength。 Restraint is a necessary counterpart to the winds of opposition。 Some of us tug at the rules so hard that we never soar to reach the heights we might have obtained。 We keep part of the mandment and never rise high enough to get our tails off the ground。
Let us each rise to the great heights, recognizing that some of the restraints that we may chafe under are actually the steadying force that helps us ascend and achieve。
