The picture vividly depicts a lovely American girl in traditional Chinese costume with a sweet smile on her face. She wears ribbons, necklaces and other accessories that are characteristic of the clothes of a certain Chinese minority group. Undoubtedly, the costume has added oriental charm/glamour to her beautiful look/appearance/features.
What the picture conveys goes far beyond only/merely a new fashion trend. Instead, it carries cultural meanings/implications as well. The fact that people from different countries are attracted to mysterious Chinese culture indicates that to some extent a culture can be accepted, respected, appreciated and shared internationally. In other words, a nation’s unique/distinctive culture can become international through worldwide economic and cultural exchanges. Since the trend of globalization become irresistible, the increasing cultural exchanges can effectively improve mutual understanding and friendship.
It is my view that national culture as priceless spiritual treasure should be preserved and cherished. Meanwhile, there are good reasons to advocate international culture for those ideas from the other cultures, controversial or even absurd at first sight, can provide a different perspective for us to observe the world in the long run. Nevertheless, when we are confronted with a different culture, we should be sensible enough to absorb its essence and to resist its dark side. Only in this way can we promote cultural development positively and make our world dimensional, colorful and vigorous.
The cartoon is simple but thought-provoking. As is vividly shown in the picture, there are two passengers sitting in a bus. One of them is a male, who is sitting cross-legged and smoking. The whole bus is filled with the black smoke. While the other one is a female, who is sitting in front of the man and covering her nose with a tissue to prevent the harm of the secondhand smoke. There is no doubt that the picture implies that the secondhand smoke exists everywhere and it is hazardous.
This phenomenon has an undesirable impact on our daily life. Firstly, it does harm to and sacrifices our physical and mental health. What’s worse, it is the main cause of lung cancer and about 10% people die of it every year. In addition, our environment and ecosystem will be severely polluted and thus it hinders our sustainable and scientific development. Were the situation to continue, we would pay a high price.
Accordingly, it is imperative for us to take drastic and effective measures to control this situation. Firstly, we should appeal to the government to make strict laws and regulations to ban smoking in public places. As for ourselves, we should take practical actions to stop smoking and protect our living environment. Only in this way can we have opportunities to expect a beautiful world and a bright future to come.

A brief History of World Commercial Fishing
范文:
A Brief History of World Commercial Fishing
This picture shows a drastic change in the world’s commercial fishing. The two parts display totally different scenes in 1900 and 1995. In 1900, there were a large number of fish while only one boat was fishing on the ocean. But in 1995 fishing boats increased sharply while only one fish was left. The fish supplies have almost been exhausted by overfishing.
Judging from the picture, we can see that within about 100 years, humans have stripped the sea of her generous offerings. If we dont put an end to the trend, then the fish in the ocean could become extinct species in the foreseeable future.
Therefore, it is high time we took effective measures to solve this problem. First, we must bring world population under a reasonable control, as overfishing is largely due to the need to fill the additional mouths. Second, every year in the fishs mating season, a "grace period" should be enforced during which the fish are allowed to reproduce themselves. Third, strict laws should be implemented. Last but not least, we should enhance the awareness of the public that the ocean resources are very vital to us. Only when these above mentioned measures are put into practice can we save the fish from disappearing completely.

she had nearly dozed away the whole lazy afternoon, with her eyelash loose down and some naughty hairs playing and rejoicing on her forehead.
occasionally, she would knit her brows out of a surge of pain. but when relief came she would smile again and relish once more the enchanting curve of her abdomen, feeling the fresh pulse of the child inside.the afternoon went by quietly, of which the highlight might be butterfly that kept pestering her. now it had alighted on her chair, wings shining in the setting sun, triggering her childlike fantasy. her finger could not help but snail its way toward the little creature. nearer and nearer, until the butterfly was finally between her delicate fingers. after a while, she decided to release it. no sooner had she slightly opened her fingers than the little creature sprang right up into the air, as vigorous, she thought, as her future child would be.
so, always, true vitality resides in tranquility, as real beauty in love.
As is depicted by the picture, a student is selecting courses. He is considering whether to choose the courses which are high scored, easily passed with less homework, or to choose those that contain new knowledge, focus on creating and are difficult to learn. From my perspective, I will choose the latter ones. The reasons are as follows.
The college students are faced with fierce competition in nowadays. Those courses which are full of advanced knowledge can broaden our horizon and enrich our knowledge. More over, they pay more attention to creativity so that I can be equipped with novel viewpoints in the future when seeking a job, which can help me become more competitive among the peers. Last but not least, to learn those courses which are difficult can give me a sense of accomplishment.

This bar chart indicates different market shares of automobiles of three types of brand affiliations between2008and2009.
In2008,cars with Japanese brands topped the three types of vehicles, accounting for 35% of the total market. What follows is the cars with Chinese brands, hitting 25% of the auto market, with the share of American brand bottomed out at 15%。 In2009,some developments are noticeable in that the cars with the largest share became those of Chinese brands, which occupied roughly 32% of the market, while cars with Japanese and American brands took 25% and 15% of the whole market respectively.
It is observed that between2008and2009,cars of Chinese and Japanese brands took turns to be the No.1 in terms of market share while those with American brands ranked the last in both years. And the share of Chinese-brand cars witnessed a mild increase and that of the Japanese-brand cars saw a moderate decrease, while the American-brand cars stayed the same.
From this graph,we can come to the safe conclusion that the Chinese automakers are doing a good job in outcompeting their Japanese and American counterparts in2009,but the gap is not so significant and if no efforts were madefromthe part of the Chinese auto industry, the distribution map might be rewritten in the future.

Study the following pictures carefully and write and write an essay about 200 words based on the following:
The set of drawings above vividly depicts the destiny of a flower in different circumstances. As is shown in the first cartoon, the flower is placed in a comfortable greenhouse which shelters it from the threatening lightening and storm. With proper temperature, moisture and fertilizer, the flower is growing in full bloom. On the contrary, when removed from the greenhouse and exposed to the driving rain, the flower soon fades and withers(枯萎), with the petals cast about on the grounds.
Accordingly, it is vital for us to derive positive implication from these thought-provoking drawings. On the one hand, we can frequently use them to enlighten the youth to more independent in life. On the other hand, parents should be sensible enough to give their children more freedom to deal with troubles and problems. Only by undergoing more challenges and toils in adversity can young people cultivate strong personality and ability, and only in this way can they become winners in this competitive world.
